The youngest of eight children, Janie Johnson did not realize her passion for painting in watercolors until well into her life. Her mother was an artist who painted for 'Southern Pottery', but whose focus was mostly on raising eight children. Children have been the focus of Janie's life also. She has pursued her goals in the world of art alongside her commitment to raising healthy, happy kids. Her supportive spouse and their four children knew that she was always there for them, but that she also had bigger dreams for herself. NOW is the time for all of the hard work to pay off. This is her 'New Beginning'.
Art has always been a journey for me, one that began with discouragement but has blossomed into a passionate and fulfilling pursuit. In seventh grade, a teacher's dismissive words nearly snuffed out my creative spark. It wasn't until my 30s that I rediscovered my love for art and embarked on a transformative career.
Initially, I immersed myself in watercolors, captivated by their fluidity and luminosity. Over the years, my artistic practice has expanded to include abstract acrylics, oil and cold wax. This evolution has allowed me to explore and express the diverse themes that inspire me—florals, landscapes, and abstract forms.
Teaching others about art is a significant part of my journey. I believe that everyone can and should enjoy the process of creating art, and I find immense joy in helping others discover their own artistic potential. Art, for me, is more than just a medium of expression; it is a therapeutic practice that enables me to live fully in the moment, free from the burdens of the past or worries about the future.
Today, I paint for myself, driven by a deep-seated need to create rather than the desire to sell. My work is a reflection of my inner world, a space where I find solace and joy. Through my art, I aim to share this sense of peace and presence, hoping to inspire others to find their own creative paths.
My biggest dream is sharing my passion with people to create art for themselves and not for the world to 'purchase'. I was discouraged by an art teacher at a very young age that I was not meant to create art. WHY would anyone discourage the joy and pleasure that one experiences while creating??!! My back ground is teaching. Talent is NOT what it is about! If you have desire and passion...you can ENJOY!
